- Despite being an unemployed mother of two, Evalena Crittle said she didn’t think twice about donating.
- I’ve never had to go through a situation where we were hungry or where we needed clothes,” said Crittle, whose family donated about $100 to the relief effort in Haiti.
- “I seen on TV, young kids being mother and fathers to little brothers with no parents and no home or anything, and I just felt like if I was in that situation, I would want somebody to help me out,” the 17-year-old explained.
- “It just touched me to see that these kids had to work so hard to live a normal life.” World Vision Chicago Executive Director Felecia Thompson said she’s moved by the outpouring of donations.
- “They went to bed that night, and woke up the next day and didn’t have anything,” Mitchell said.
